We invite all parents and carers to attend a ThinkUKnow presentation on Tuesday, 27th May at 6:00pm.
ThinkUKnow is a nationally delivered, evidence-based education program aimed at preventing online child sexual exploitation.
In today’s ever-evolving digital world, keeping our children safe online is more important—and more challenging—than ever before. That’s why we’re inviting you to attend our upcoming ThinkUKnow presentation, a vital session that will empower you with the most current, real-world information about online safety.
This is not just another talk—it's an opportunity to learn from a local law enforcement officer alongside an industry expert, how young people are really engaging online, what the real risks are, and most importantly, what you can do right now to help protect them. From online grooming and sexual extortion to managing screen time and digital footprints, this session will give you practical tools, insights, and support to guide your children safely through the digital world.
Together, we can build a safer online environment for our kids.
We hope to see you there!

Please RSVP via QKR.

Robotics and Digital Design in ICT
This term in ICT, students across the school have been engaging with Sphero robots, learning foundational programming and problem-solving skills in a fun, hands-on way.
Students from Kindergarten to Year 3 have been exploring how to log in and control the Spheros, guiding them through obstacle courses and learning basic movement commands.
Our Year 4 to Year 6 students have taken on more complex challenges. They are beginning to program the robots to move in curves and circles, using these skills to create digital shapes. Eventually, their projects will spell out words using the movement of the Spheros — a creative way to combine coding with literacy and geometry.
3D Printing Comes to Life
We are excited to share that, thanks to a generous contribution from the Community Council, the school has purchased two 3D printers to enhance learning during ICT lessons.
In Term 1, students had the opportunity to turn their hand-drawn or digital designs into 3D printed models. This gave them an exciting glimpse into the world of digital design and provided a meaningful connection between creativity and technology.
Photos to follow - all the children are loving ICT.

Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge
All SJV students have been registered to participate in the 2025 Chief Minister’s Reading Challenge. At school, and at home, students are encouraged to read 30 books by the end of June (this includes books that are read to them/shared).

Each student from Year 2 to Year 6 has a recording sheet in the library that they are encouraged to fill in to show the 30 books they have read. I will keep a note of the books we read in the library from Kinder to Year 2.

ELC NEWS
This week the ELC celebrated International Bee Day. A big thank you to Tony Laudenbach, who is a real-life beekeeper, for visiting the ELC to tell us all about bees and to give us a close-up look at some of the tools used in beekeeping. As well as dressing up in bee colours, the children were engaged in a range of bee-inspired activities, including craft, storytelling, and learning provocations that encouraged curiosity about the natural world.
The ELC also participated in the National Simultaneous Story Time where over 2 million children around the country read the same story at the same time. This year’s book was The Truck Cat which is about friendship, belonging and finding a home.
Thank you to SJV for inviting us along to their athletics carnival last Friday. The ELC children jumped on the bus to Chapman oval to join in a day of fun-filled activities, novelty races, parachute games, long jump, shot put and running races.
Cross Country – Friday 23 May
This Friday is the St Jude’s Cross Country (weather permitting). The ELC children will run a shorter course of around 250m around the school oval at around 10am. Please ensure that children are wearing appropriate running shoes with their ELC uniforms.
2026 Kinder Enrolments
A reminder to all ELC families that you need to submit an enrolment form for Kinder by 30 May. Applications are available through your in-area school website.
ELC Enrolment Tours
We are holding tours on Tuesdays in May from 9:30 – 11am. Please contact the ELC if you would like to book a tour. If you know any families with children approaching preschool age, invite them along to have a look at our amazing ELC. Online enrolments are open via the ELC page of the school website until the end of May.
St John Vianney’s Open Days
St John Vianney’s will have an Open Day every Wednesday in May from 10:30am to 5pm.
