Week 5 Term 3 2025

Gospel Reflection - Luke 13:22-30

“There are those now last who will be first, and those now first who will be last.’

In this Gospel, Jesus is asked, “Will only a few be saved?” His response reminds us that following Him is not about simply knowing His name or belonging to a group, but about living our faith with sincerity and love. Jesus speaks of the “narrow door,” which is not meant to frighten us but to challenge us to live with purpose, humility, and compassion.

As parents, this message is a call to help our children see that being Christian is more than words – it is seen in daily choices of kindness, forgiveness, and service. The “narrow door” opens when we teach our children to notice the needs of others, to pray, and to make space for God in their lives.

This Gospel assures us that God’s invitation is for all, but it is our response that matters. As families, we are encouraged to walk with Christ each day, trusting that His love will guide us on the path that leads to life.

School Masses

Well done to our Year 1 students for leading the school in a beautiful Mass last Friday celebrating the Feast Day of the Assumption. Thank you to the many parents and grandparents who were able to join us for the celebration.

The next date the school will be attending Mass this term is on Wednesday 17th September (Week 9). This will be a regular Parish Mass at 9:30am led by 5/6P, and all parents and friends of the school are welcome to join us.

St Vincent De Paul - Hygiene Station

Thank you for your donations to the hygiene station. The Youth Ministry team would like to make packs up to send to Vinnies so they can be distributed to those in need. We are still just a little short on the items listed below, so if you are able to contribute, that would be greatly appreciated.

  • Oral hygiene products (toothpaste, toothbrushes)
  • Deodorant, body spray, and perfume
  • Body wash and soap
  • Sanitary products

Sacraments 2025

We ask that you hold our students who will be making their Confirmation next week in your prayers. Key dates for Confirmation candidates and their families are as follows:

Saturday 23rd August/Sunday 24th August: Gathering Mass (any of the weekend Masses)

Wednesday 27th August: Sacrament of Confirmation, 6pm, St John Vianney’s Church, (celebrated by Archbishop Christopher Prowse)

Planning for the Sacramental Program for 2026 will begin shortly. Families of students who are eligible to make one of the Sacraments (Reconciliation, First Eucharist or Confirmation) are encouraged to visit the Parish website: https:/stjjvwestoncreek.blogspot.com/ for information and registration details for each of the Sacraments. Announcements about plans for the 2026 Sacramental program will be made later in the year. All questions about the program are best directed to the Parish Office via email: SacramentalOLA@cg.org.au

Parish Youth Group

Annunciate Kids is our Parish Youth group led by Youth Minister Georgia Riley. The group meets in the Church Meeting room at St Jude’s and is open to students in Year 2-6. Sessions run fortnightly on Sunday afternoons between 3:45pm - 5pm. The next meeting will be on Sunday 24th August. Any enquiries are best directed to Georgia via email: Youth.Westoncreek@cg.org.au
